OBITUARY:

Robert F. “Bob” Duffy a life long resident of Woburn passed away Friday, April 21st after a brief illness. The beloved son of the late Thomas H. and Mary Alice (O’Donnell) Duffy, he was ninety four years of age.

Born in Woburn, Bob was one of twelve children raised and educated in Woburn, a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1940.

In 1942 Bob enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, where he served his country proudly over four years. He had trained as a radio mechanic and radar operator, serving in both the Asiatic Pacific and American Theater Campaigns.

Upon his return home he secured himself a position with the phone company where he remained for over forty years and had certainly seen and been a part of the many changes the occurred.

In his younger days he enjoyed going to the “ponies,” a baseball game here and there and always a loyal follower of the Red Sox, right up until recently. Puzzles were his forte, all different shapes, sizes and themes.

Bob truly loved and enjoyed his family. Needless to say that with eleven siblings, he shared in all their lives and that of their children and children’s children! He was wonderful when it came to the kids, big smiles and always had a great interest in what they were doing and how well they were doing it!

A very kind, generous and good natured man, Bob had truly earned the respect of both family and friends.
