Born and raised in Stoneham, Harold was one of five siblings born to the late Levi A. and Catherine B. (Steele) Sweet. He attended St. Patrick’s School in Stoneham and enlisted into the United States Army when he turned 21.

After returning home from active duty, Hal began in the masonry trade, which he perfected and continued in for many years; while simultaneously working for General Foods, retiring in 1980.

In the late 50’s Harold, through mutual friends, met the love of his life Beverly. In 1960 they moved to Woburn and wedded a year later, where they have remained and raised their family of four sons and a daughter.

Throughout the years, Hal enjoyed going to places such as York Beach, Florida and California. He always enjoyed visiting family in Hawaii over the years. Holidays were always a very specia, as the years passed it was an important time of the family being together.

Hal's hobbies included his love of working in the yard and being in the great outdoors, under bright sun and blue skies. When it came to playing pool, he was the best of the best, from any corner or spot on the family.

For the past four years, Hal has resided at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital and Bedford. His time there was very positive and comforting for both he and his family. Always with a smile on his face, twinkle in his eye he was always very social with the staff who cared for him and all those whom he came in contact with.

Hal will always be remembered for his positive attitude towards life, never complaining or had one bad word about anyone! By all accounts Hal was truly one of the nicest guy in the world.
